An Act to give effect to the Agreement Establishing the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre, the objectives of which are, to protect the climate system of territories that are members of the Centre for the benefit of present and future generations of their people, to enhance regional institutional capabilities for the co-ordination of national responses to the negative effects of climate change, to provide comprehensive policy and technical support in the area of climate change and related issues and spearheading regional initiatives in those areas, to perform the role of executing agency for regional environmental projects relating to climate change; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Resumen

This Act provides for approval of the acceptance by Belize of the Agreement Establishing the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre and the Protocol on the Provisional Application of the Agreement. The Agreement and the Protocol shall have the force of law in Belize. The Minister may, by Order published in the Gazette, make provisions as may be necessary or expedient for giving effect to any Article of the Agreement. Belize shall host the Centre. The objectives of the Centre shall be: (a) protection of the climate system of Members of the Centre for the benefit of present and future generations of their peoples; (b) enhancing regional institutional capabilities for the coordination of national responses to the negative effects of climate change; (c) providing comprehensive policy and technical support in the area of climate change and related issues and spearheading regional initiatives in those areas; and (d) performing the role of executing agency for regional environmental projects relating to climate change.
