The Agreement and the Protocol shall have the force of law in Belize. The Minister may, by Order published in the Gazette, make provisions as may be necessary or expedient for giving effect to any Article of the Agreement. Belize shall host the Centre. The objectives of the Centre shall be: (a) protection of the climate system of Members of the Centre for the benefit of present and future generations of their peoples; (b) enhancing regional institutional capabilities for the coordination of national responses to the negative effects of climate change; (c) providing comprehensive policy and technical support in the area of climate change and related issues and spearheading regional initiatives in those areas; and (d) performing the role of executing agency for regional environmental projects relating to climate change.
