Aims and principles of the present Act are as follows: 1) to organize waste management in Burgenland complying with the principles of protection of the environment in the light of waste prevention and sustainability; 2) to reduce quantities of waste and their harmful substances; to recycle waste if possible at reasonable cost; not recyclable waste is subject to treatment and storage; 3) to collect, store, transport and treat waste, if it is of public interest.
