Resumen

This Part of Chapter 593 of the Florida Statutes, known as “Florida Boll Weevil Eradication Law”, provides for boll weevil eradication. More specifically, it provides for powers and duties of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services of Florida for the eradication; entry of premises, eradication activities, and inspections; reports by persons growing cotton; quarantine, and regulation of articles within eradication zone; regulation of collection, transportation, distribution, and movement of cotton; authority to designate eradication zones, prohibit planting of cotton, and require participation in eradication programs; authority to regulate pasturage, entry, and honeybee colonies in eradication zones and other areas; eligibility for certification of cotton growers’ organization; certification of cotton growers’ organization; referendum on levying an assessment; assessments; liens if the assessments are not paid; mandamus or injunction; and penalty for violation of the provisions of the Part.
