There shall be a close season for the protected wild birds and also for oysters and turtles (sect. 4). The Second Schedule, listing species protected during the close season under section 6, may be altered by the Governor by Notice published in the Official Gazette. Sections 7 to 9 provide specifically for the protection of turtles. Any person who shall use any method of poisoning, stupefying, or intoxicating fish, or who shall destroy fish (a) by explosion of dynamite, gunpowder or other explosive substances in waters within three miles of the coast of the Colony, or; (b) by discharge of any noxious substances causes the destruction of fish or crayfish in any pond, river, stream, creek or bay, shall be guilty of an offence.
