Resumen The present Regulation enforces the Animal Diseases Act (C.C.S.M.c.A85). For the purpose of the present Regulation a “premises” is a parcel of land where livestock and poultry are grown, kept, assembled or disposed of. Premises Identification allows for: 1) rapid notification of livestock and poultry stakeholders; 2) helps prepare for animal health and food safety emergencies (ex: disease or flood); 3) helps track animals in an emergency; 4) reduces the impact of an emergency;5) maintains or provides greater market access. Planning and management of animal disease outbreaks will maximize the effectiveness of the emergency response and minimize the social, economic and environmental costs associated with the outbreak. Knowing where animals are located and how to contact producers is the key to rapid, accurate and cost-effective disease response. Premises identification is a critical component in developing a national traceability system. The text consists of 7 sections.
