It consists of 62 sections divided into 9 Parts. "Animal includes fish and aquatic animals. There is established a Turks and Caicos Island Animal Health service within the Department of Agriculture. The Service shall consists of a Chief Agricultural Officer (CVO) and veterinary officers. The CVO shall be the authority for purposes of international obligations regarding animal health. Functions of the Service are defined. For purposes of this Ordinance animal inspectors shall be appointed, the functions and powers of which are defined. The Ordinance also provides for, among other things: animal disease control and early detection system; declaration of infected zones; quarantine; control on imports and exports; animal welfare; keeping of records; animal identification and traceability of products; measures of enforcement.
