An “agricultural contract” means an agreement whereby a contractor is let into possession of a parcel of land by the owner for the purpose of bringing such parcel of land into cultivation or for the bona fide purpose of extending the cultivation on the land, in accordance with the terms of such agreement, and includes all contracts whether registered or unregistered, but shall not include any agreement relating to the cultivation of sugarcane. The contractor’s right to possession shall include the right to cultivation, husbandry and use of the produce of the trees on such land, unless prohibited by contract. The Act defines rights and duties of a contractor and provides for various legal matters relating to the holding and use of land under contract, and in particular claims against contractors.
