Resumen The present Act replaces the Pits and Quarries Control Act, Beach Protection Act and Part VII of the Mining Act. The Act regulates the operation of pits and quarries in designated parts of Ontario and the disposition of Crown owned aggregate. In particular, section 2 establishes that the purposes of the Act are: a) to provide for the management of the aggregate resources of Ontario; b) to control and regulate aggregate operations on Crown and private lands; c) to require the rehabilitation of land from which aggregate has been excavated; and d) to minimize adverse impact on the environment in respect of aggregate operations.
