Biofuel is defined in section 19 (2) of the Act on excise duty on liquid fuels. The Act does not apply to a distributor who delivers a maximum of one million litres of light fuel oil for consumption during a calendar year. The Act requires distributors (as defined in Act 182/2010) to supply biofuel oil for consumption. Biofuel oil's energy content share of the total energy content of the light fuel oil and biofuel oil that a distributor supplies for consumption (distribution obligation) shall be at least a specified percentage, which increases in a ten-year period. The general administration, monitoring and development of activities to be carried out under this Act are part of the tasks of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy.
