Resumen This Act lays down rules on illegal fishing and fees for illegal fishing. Illegal fishing covers fishing that: a) exceeds the catch limit or hook limit that a fishing vessel has or exceeds the maximum catch set by other means; b) is obtained without the required fishing permits; c) is obtained outside the permitted fishing days, unless it is a normal by-catch; d) is obtained with unauthorized fishing gear; and e) is obtained in an area where fishing is prohibited. A special fee shall be paid in accordance with the instructions of this law for fishing, harvesting, processing or trading in illegal seafood. The fee shall normally be levied on the person who has taken out a ship or boat that has engaged in illegal fishing. The Directorate of Fisheries is authorized to require shipowners, captains, fish workers, fish sellers and those who have acted as intermediaries in trade with seafood or products for all necessary data and information that they can provide and which, in the opinion of the Directorate concern a decision on whether seafood can be liable to pay according to this law.
