Resumen

This Act has been enacted to regulate the taking and killing of birds in Iceland. Chapter I lays down rules in matter of bird-hunting in private lands: only the landowner has the right to hunt birds within the boundaries of his property. However, if the land is leased, the bird-hunting rights shall belong to the tenant (art. 2). Particular provisions shall be applied in case the property is owned by more than one person (art. 3), if properties are divided by a river or stream (art. 4, par. 2), if the sea forms the property of a boundary (art. 4, par. 3) or the property is bounded by a lake (art. 4, par. 4). Outside the boundaries of private lands, all Icelandic citizens have the right to hunt birds (art. 5). Article 7 provides for the setting up of the Bird Protection Committee.
