Abstract

The Treaty establishes a 30-year water discharge regime between India and Bangladesh. In particular, it makes provision for the sharing between the two Contracting Parties of the Ganga/Ganges waters at Farakka by ten day periods from the 1st January to the 31st May every year with reference to the formula given in Annexure 1. Annexure 2 gives the implications of the sharing arrangements made under Annexure 1. A Joint Committee shall be responsible for the implementation of the Treaty. The Committee shall observe and record the daily flows in the areas indicated in article IV and submit all data collected as well as a yearly report to both Parties.
