Abstract

The Protocol concerns the fishing opportunities of the European Economic Community in waters of the Islamic Federal Republic of the Comoros and the financial contribution and technical programmes for the development of the Comoros fisheries. Licences authorizing fishing in Comorian waters shall be granted to 40 freezer tuna seiners and 25 surface longliners for a period of three years beginning on 28 February 2001. The financial compensation referred to in Article 1 shall be fixed at EUR 350250 per year and catches of 4670 tonnes per year in Comorian waters. In Annex are set out the conditions for the pursuit of fishing activities by community vessels in comorian waters. Licences shall be valid for a period of one year. They shall be renewable and the licence fee shall be set at EUR 25 per tonne of tuna caught in Comorian waters.
