Abstract

With a view to strenghtening cooperation between their respective countries in the field of water resources, the Government of the United States of America and the Government of Italy shall jointly undertake scientific and technical initiatives, taking into particular account water desalting, water pollution control, waste water recovery, conservation of water and other stages of water resource development. Such initiatives shall include: exchange of scientists, in order to encourage the elaboration of joint research projects; consultation and convocation of joint seminars to exchange information and to discuss and plan cooperative efforts. The National Research Council ("Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche") is designated by the Government of Italy as the national agency most appropriate to carry out the activities covered by this Understanding (art. 4).
