Abstract

Objectives: To improve the conservation status of the Bukhara Deer throughout its range. Summary of provisions: This Memorandum of Understanding is a non legally-binding agreement under article IV(4) of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), as defined by Resolution 2.6 adopted at the 2nd Conference of the Parties. Parties to the MoU agree to provide strict protection to the Bukhara Deer and identify, conserve and, where feasible and appropriate, restore habitats of importance to the improvement of its conservation status. Parties further agree to, inter alia, implement the Action Plan annexed to the MoU as a basis for the conservation and restoration of the species, facilitate exchange of information, and co-operate with other Range States. Institutional mechanisms: The Secretariat of the Bonn Convention is to provide Secretariat functions as outlined in the MoU and compile an overview of the annual reports of Parties on their implementation of the MoU.
