Abstract

In this Memorandum rules are established for the behaviour of Indonesian fishermen who have traditionally taken fish and sedentary organisms in Australian waters by methods which have been the tradition since decades. Only this category of fishermen is permitted to fish in the exclusive fishing zone of Australia subject to certain conditions regarding landings and going ashore, navigation, and fishing for certain species in defined areas. Fishing for turtles is altogether prohibited.
