Abstract

This Agreement sets out the principles, rules and procedures governing economic, financial, technical and scientific cooperation in the fisheries sector with a view to promoting responsible fishing in Mozambique’s fishing zones. Moreover, the Agreement lays down the conditions governing access by European Community fishing vessels to Mozambique’s fishing zone. The aim is to ensure the conservation and sustainable exploitation of fisheries resources and develop Mozambique’s fisheries sector. The Protocol setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided for in the fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Community and the Republic of Mozambique on fishing off the coast of Mozambique for the period from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2011 is attached to the Agreement.
