Abstract

Objectives: To amend Articles I and III of the 1954 International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil. Summary of provisions: Article I defining 'nearest land' is replaced to give a new definition. Sub-paragraph (iv) of paragraph (a) of Article III is replaced to provide that the discharge is to be made as far as practicable from the nearest land.
