The Agreement rests on the principle of mutual benefit. Cooperation shall cover the following areas: (a) nuclear reactor safety research; (b) radiation protection; (c) nuclear waste management; (d) decommissioning, decontamination and dismantling of nuclear installations; (e) research and development on safeguards of nuclear material; and (f) prevention of illicit trafficking of nuclear material. Cooperation shall involve among others exchange of technical information and balanced participation in joint studies and activities. A Coordinating Committee is established by article 8 to supervise the implementation of this Agreement.
