Abstract

This Agreement provides a framework for the transboundary movement of hazardous wastes that are shipped from the Philippines to the United States for environmentally sound management. The Environmental Management Bureau of the Philippines shall notify the United States Environmental Protection Agency of the proposed transboundary shipments of hazardous wastes to be carried out under this Agreement (art. 4). The Parties shall cooperate to ensure that transboundary movement of hazardous wastes conform to the requirements of applicable law of both Parties and of this Agreement (art. 5). The remaining articles deal with illegal traffic, insurance, dispute settlement, entry into force, and validity and termination.
