Abstract

This Agreement regulates the exchange of information in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection. Article 1, paragraph 1, establishes the obligation of each party to notify the other without delay, through the official channels, in case of release of harmful radioactive material. Paragraph 2 of the same article contains a definition of “nuclear plant”. Furthermore, the contracting parties should inform each other of any deactivations of plants, as well as of events occurring in nuclear plants which could be dangerous for the other one. Article 6 lays down that the contracting parties should inform each other at least twice a year about the experience gained from nuclear plants and also on the legal basis for nuclear safety and radiation protection.The text consists of 12 articles and 1 Annex.
