Abstract

This article assesses the results of the United Nations Conference on the Environment and Development (UNCED), and evaluates their implications for the future evolution of international environmental law. It focuses on the principal themes of the Conference and its related negotiation processes: (I) the general principles of international environmental aw; (II) the conservation and development of forests; (III) the conservation of biological diversity; (IV) the struggle for climate change; and (V) the struggle against desertification
