The operations of the Corporation shall, subject to this Act, be controlled by a board, to be known as the Mining Development Board. The functions and duties of the Corporation shall be: (a) to invest in the mining industry in Zimbabwe on behalf of the State; (b) to plan, co-ordinate and implement mining development projects on behalf of the State; (c) to engage in prospecting, exploration, mining and mineral beneficiation programmes; (d) to encourage and undertake the formation of mining cooperatives; (e) to render assistance to persons engaged in or about to engage in mining; (f) to review annually the general economic conditions and prospects of the mining industry and in particular investment schemes; and other tasks specified in section 20 or as may be imposed upon the Corporation by any enactment.
