Abstract

This Chapter of the Code of Virginia establishes the Wine Board within the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services of Virginia. It provides rules for composition and appointment of members and determines the powers and duties of the Board. Notably, the purpose of the Wine Board is to foster the development of the Virginia wine industry by expanding viticulture and enological research, increasing education, and promoting the production of grapes and wine in the Commonwealth. The Chapter also establishes a special nonreverting fund to be known as the Virginia Wine Promotion Fund. Moneys in the Fund must be used solely for the purposes set forth in this Chapter.
