Entry into force notes
This Act shall enter into force on the day appointed by the Minister by Gazette notice.
Abstract

This Act amends some definitions in Section 2 in accordance with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna. This Act adds Part 2 “Regulation of trade in CITES specimens” to ensure the compliance with the obligations under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna. Furthermore, This Act adds Part 3 “Regulation of trade in non-CITES specimens” that does not apply to CITES specimens. This Act amends Part 4 and adds sections regarding powers of inspectors, notice of entry to premises, and the protection of the Director, a CITES scientific authority and the inspector from liability. Finally, this Act amends the Schedule I and II to the Principal Act by deleting the species indicated in the Section 26 of this Act.
