The Act shall not apply to marine wildlife. No person shall hunt, have in his possession, purchase, sell or export any protected wildlife or export any wildlife product without written authorization of an authorized officer (sect. 3). Section 5 lists several prohibited hunting devices. Hunting of game requires a game licence (sect. 6). Section 7 prohibits the introduction into Mauritius of birds or animals which are listed in the Schedules to this Act. Section 8 restricts the hunting of camarons and shrimps. Applications for game licences shall be made to the Commissioner of Police and shall be made in the form specified in Part I of the Fifth Schedule (sect. 9). The remaining sections of this Act provide, inter alia, for transfer of licences, arrest and search and entry, regulation making powers of the Minister and prescribe offences.
