The Act creates wilderness reserves and ecological reserves and provides for their management. Under the Act, the Wilderness and Ecological Reserves Advisory Council is continued in its advisory functions and the Act further provides for its operation. The Act provides for the acquisition of land to be used for the reserves and covers offences and penalties.
