Abstract

These Regulations amend, in relation to Wales, the Welfare of Animals (Slaughter or Killing) Regulations 1995 in Schedules 1, 3, 4, 6 and 9 and by inserting a new Schedule 7A. The amendments concern: surrender of revoked or suspended licences; restriction of the use of instruments which administer electric shocks to adult bovines and adult pigs; other animal protection and animal health measures in relation with killing or stunning. Schedule 7A permits the killing of end of lay hens and end of life breeder hens by exposure to gas elsewhere than in a slaughterhouse.
