Abstract

This Title of Article 15 of the Environmental Conservation Law of New York (the Article 15 being known as the Water Resources Law of New York) regulates water supply. Specifically, it concerns water withdrawals and its permits; water withdrawals for agricultural purposes; interbasin diversions and water supply to other states; transportation of water by vessel; municipal water supply reservoirs on forest preserve lands; approval of plans for forest preserve reservoir projects, the related petition and proceedings; procedure on approval of application with respect to forest preserve reservoir projects; payment of cost of construction of such projects, and supervision of construction and operation; supply of water to other public water supply systems; water well drillers in New York state to obtain certificates of registration; permit required for certain wells in Long Island counties; moratorium on the drilling of new wells in the Lloyd Sands; and state approval process for completed water withdrawal systems.
