Abstract The present Law regulates the use of public waters of the Canton Graubünden employed to produce electrical energy, as well as the supply of electricity for municipalities and the Canton. The purpose of the present Law is: a) the rational use of the local hydropower for the well-being of local authorities, regions and cantons; b) the optimization and improved performance of exisisting hydropower generated stations; c) a rational and environment-friendly development of hydro powers; d) a safe, sufficient and steady supply of energy for the Canton; e) the coordination of interests of municipalities, regions and cantons.
