Abstract

Section 3 provides that the Government shall, by notification in the official Gazette, establish the Water Resources Planning Institution as a body corporate. The general management and administration of the Institution shall be entrusted to a Managing Board to be constituted according to section 6. The Institution shall: conduct the general planning of environmentally balanced water resources for the purpose of developing water resources, determine the national means and methods for the scientific utilization and preservation of water resources and carry out other functions relating to advising, collection, disseminating of information, training, etc. as specified in section 7. There shall be a Director-General of the institution and an Executive Parishad and a Technical Committee to advise the Institution in carrying out its tasks. The Government may for the purpose of this Act, issue any direction to the Institution and the Institution may for the purpose of this Act, after the prior approval of the Government and by notification in the official Gazette, make such regulations as are not inconsistent with this Act or any rule. Assets of the National Water Project shall be transferred to the Institution.
