Abstract

This Chapter of Division 7 of the Water Code of California requires State Department of Public Health to adopt uniform water recycling criteria for indirect potable reuse for groundwater recharge and to develop and adopt uniform water recycling criteria for surface water augmentation. The State Water Resources Control Board shall enter into an agreement with the Department to assist in implementing this Chapter. The Department shall also adopt, by emergency Regulations, requirements for groundwater replenishment using recycled water. The Chapter sets out considerations for recycling criteria for surface water augmentation and considerations for feasibility for direct potable reuse. An action authorized pursuant to this Chapter shall be consistent, to the extent applicable, with the federal Clean Water Act.
