Abstract

The present Law implements various articles of the Federal Water Association Act of 12 February 1991 (BGBl. I p. 405). Article 2 establishes the tasks of water and soil associations as follows: construction of facilities in and along waters; agricultural use of solid organic residues, sludge and waste water; measures to manage and protect groundwater and surface water; acquisition, maintenance and conservation of areas, facilities and waters to protect and improve ecosystems, the quality of water and soil and the countryside; and promotion of cooperation between water and soil associations, agriculture and municipal bodies. The text consists of 24 articles divided in 4 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Budget, examination (II); Contributions (III); Public announcement, transitional rules (IV).
