Abstract The present Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the Waste Management Plan of Burgenland 1997. The following actions should be undertaken in order to prevent and reduce waste, and, in particular, hazardous waste : 1) information and counselling of people, as well as of companies and industries: 2) vocational training of personnel; 3) correct handling of waste management on the part of public authorities; 4) application of polluter pays principle and payment of contributions for the treatment of waste; 5) Involvement of companies and industry.
