The local authority may protect endangered species of plants and animals by means of an Ordinance. It is prohibited to remove fully protected plants from their site; those partly protected may be removed. The same applies to animals. Fully protected animals may not be captured or killed. Part 3 deals specifically with landscape. Areas of particular interest can be declared protected areas by the local authorities and no constructions are allowed in such areas. Natural Monuments are formations enhancing the beauty of the landscape. The procedure to establish protected areas is outlined in Part 4. Furthermore, a register containing all important information is to be kept by the competent authority. Part 7 describes competent authorities and controlling bodies and, also, the appointment of members of the examining commission, their duties, and finally, implementing rules. Moreover, all advertising in protected areas has to be authorized by the competent authority. This Act consists of 46 articles divided into 12 Parts. Full text German Website www.ris.bka.gv.at
