Abstract This Act lays down provisions on the establishment of the Veterinary Council; registration of veterinary surgeons and the requirements for application; enrolment of every person entitled as an Animal Health Assistant; qualifications of Animal Health Assistants; publication of the list of veterinary surgeons and Animal Health Assistants in the Official Gazette; supervision of Animal Health Assistants by the registered veterinary surgeon; disciplinary proceedings; practice of veterinary medicine by persons other than veterinary surgeons; and offences and penalties. The Veterinary Council may make regulations for carrying into effect this Act and in particular for any of the purposes listed in Section 21, including the determination of professional conduct and general fitness to practise veterinary medicine.
