Abstract

This Instruction stipulates that biological waste comprises: (a) dead animals and poultry; (b) aborted and stillborn animals and poultry; (c) animal products (meat, fish and other products) confiscated at slaughterhouses (with or without refrigerators), fish- and meat-processing organizations and markets; and (d) other products obtained as a result of processing alimentary and non-alimentary raw materials of animal origin. Within 24 hours of the discovery of dead, aborted or stillborn animals, owners must inform local veterinary officials, who shall determine the means of disposal or recycling after inspection on the spot. Biological waste shall be subject to recycling at special recycling facilities, disinfected in biothermal pits, disposed of by burning, or in exceptional cases buried in specially allotted areas.
