Abstract

This Law sets basic veterinary related rules and determines the necessary mechanisms as for the performance of veterinary medicine. This Law closely defines animal infectious diseases, prescribes measures for their prevention, suppression and eradication as well as veterinary sanitary prevention, determines the minimum mandatory scope of animal protection against infectious diseases and the method of its financing, regulates the veterinary service, its organization, provision and implementation, rights and obligations of state bodies and inspection supervision performed by the veterinary inspection. Veterinary medicine is aimed at: protecting and improving the health of animals; protecting animal health from infectious and other diseases; identifying, diagnosing and treating sick animals; providing measures to protect the population from zoonoses by preventing and suppressing these diseases in animals and preventing the transmission of these diseases to humans; ensuring the hygienic adequacy of raw materials and foods of animal origin and taking care of the hygienic adequacy of food, feed and water for watering animals that is not under the supervision of the health service (water for watering); ensuring the smooth reproduction of animals from the point of view of animal health care; protecting and improving the environment and hygienic conditions and determining the suitability of the animal environment from the point of view of animal health care; veterinary education and training of animal owners and the population; protecting animals from torture and take care of animal well-being.
