Abstract

This Law provides that no person shall refine vegetable oil unless they hold a licence granted by the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Mineral Development; there is a stiff penalty for the contravention of this provision, with a heavy fine and a prison term of up to two years imprisonment. The Law empowers an Inspector, after the grant of the licence to inspect the refining of the oil, examine and take samples of the oil and its by-products and apply any tests and make any experiments and generally all necessary enquiries. The Law further empowers the Commissioner to make subsidiary legislations and regulations with more details on matters provided for under this Law.
