Abstract

This Act amends Valuation of Land Act 1916 so as to provide for the establishment and functions of a joint committee of members of Parliament with respect to the office of Valuer-General. The Committee as constituted under this Act has the functions to monitor and to review the exercise of the Valuer-General's functions with respect to land valuations under this Act, the Land Tax Management Act 1956 and the Premium Property Tax Act 1998, to report to both Houses of Parliament, with such comments as it thinks fit, on any matter connected with the exercise of the Valuer-General's functions and to report to both Houses of Parliament any change that the Joint Committee considers desirable to the Valuer-General's functions.
