Because of their great importance as living basis for wild living animals, as well as for being part of the landscape, for improving the climatic conditions and reducing harmful effects on the environment, trees in the Land Berlin shall be considered protected according to the provisions of the present Ordinance. Article 2 lists the kind of trees being protected. The text consisting of 10 articles deals with the following issues: purpose of protection, sphere of application, duty of conservation, prohibition to fell or in any way destroy trees, exceptions, planting of trees in case of elimination of others, liability and penalties.
