Abstract

The present Act lays down provisions relating to the transport of hazardous goods. However, the Act does not apply to the handling or transportation of dangerous goods if the dangerous goods are deemed under the regulations to be handled or transported or both under the sole direction or control of the Minister of National Defence for Canada. The text consists of 25 sections divided into 6 Parts as follows: Interpretation, application and exemption (1); Requirements respecting transportation of dangerous goods (2); Inspection, detention and removal (3); Certificates and reports (4); Offences and penalties (5); Miscellaneous (6). One Schedule on classification of hazardous substances is enclosed.
