Abstract

There is established, under section 3, the Torma Bum Rice Development Authority as a body corporate. The Authority shall consist of representatives of ministries, government officers of the project area, the Chief Agriculturist, representatives of farmers, two citizens and the project manager (sect. 5). Powers and functions of the Authority are outlined in section 11 and include implementation of schemes for the production and processing of rice, providing of credit to farmers, buying and selling of rice, involve in investments, conduct scientific research, etc. There shall be a General Manager of the Authority who shall act as Chief Executive Officer. The Authority shall be financed by the Government of Sierra Leone. The Authority may make Regulations for purpose of carrying out or giving effect to the principles and provisions of this Act.
