Abstract These Regulations, made under section 36 of the National Water Resources Management Agency Act no. 5 of 2017, provides for water use and catchment. The Regulations define: agricultural water use, including the use of water to sustain livestock; commercial water use; domestic water use; environmental water use; Environment Protection Agency; fisheries water use, for the needs of aquaculture or fisheries activities; industrial water use; power generation water use; municipal water use; recreational use of water; water transportation use. Matters covered by these Regulations include: water use permits; exempted water use and related registration; priorities in water use; environmental impact assessment; holding a public hearing in case the use of water causes the destruction of the natural water resources and catchment, or in case of adverse effects to the community; complaints committee; charges and payment for raw water; right to construct, secure and maintain passages for wastewater flowing; various costs of managing water resources; monitoring and compliance; offences and penalties.
