This Act provides for standards of weights and measures for trade in India. It consists of 57 sections over five chapters: I. Preliminary; II. Standard Weights and Measures; III. Appointment and Powers of Director, Controller and Legal Metrology Officers; IV. Verification and Stamping of Weight or Measure; and V. Offences and Penalties.
