Abstract This Act, divided into eleven Parts and consisting of 62 sections, applies to all forests within the County on public, community and private lands, and provides for improving conservation, sustainable management and rational utilisation of all forest resources in the County, in order to ensure the socio-economic development of the County. The Act concerns: community forest association; concession agreement; customary rights; ecosystem; forest concession; nature reserve; protected tree; private forest; timber licence. The Act follows these guiding principles: good governance and access to public information; ecosystem approach; recognition of rights and responsibilities of communities and private land owners; benefit sharing.
