Abstract

This Act, consisting of 5 Chapters and two Schedules, creates the below mentioned drugs institutions and provides for the drugs and cosmetic sector (such as: vaccines, sera toxins, toxoids, antitoxins and antigens and biological products of such nature for human use or for veterinary use). The Act establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of Drugs Technical Advisory Board, the Central Drugs Laboratory and the Drugs Consultative Committee responsible to carry out the functions assigned. The Act is divided as follows: The Drugs Technical Advisory Board, the Central Drugs Laboratory and the Drugs Consultative Committee (Chap. II); Import of Drugs and Cosmetics (Chap. III); Manufacture, Sale and Distribution of Drugs and Cosmetics (Chap. IV); Provisions Relating to Ayurvedic Siddha and Unani Drugs (Chap. IVA); and Miscellaneous (Chap. V).
