Abstract This Act regulates the employment and conditions of building and other construction workers and applies to every establishment that employs ten or more workers. Building or other construction work includes irrigation, drainage, embankment and navigation works, flood control works, dams, canals, reservoirs, watercourses etc. The Act requires registration of establishments and also the registration of building workers as beneficiaries for benefits provided under the Act. It provides for constitution of State Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board in every state for carrying out functions as provided by the Act.
