Abstract These Regulations, made under section 93 of the Employment Relations Act, concern fishermen employed on fishing vessels as frigo-workers, their appropriate national minimum wages and additional remunerations. The Regulations define the operational areas of fishing vessels: the territorial waters of Mauritius; the exclusive economic zone of Mauritius; the continental shelf of Mauritius; the areas where Mauritius has traditional or historic rights according to the Maritime Zones Act. The Regulations provide for general conditions of employment; contract of employment; allowances; pay interval; list of articles to be sold on fishing vessels; issuance of payslip; prohibition of consumption of alcoholic beverages; repatriation in case of illness or injury and related health insurance; provision of adequate daily meals, including: tea, coffee, rice, meat, chicken, fish, vegetables or pulses, bread, butter and potable water.
