Abstract

This Law, consisting of 37 articles, concerns agricultural insurance, in order to promote the national economy and the well-being of people employed in agriculture, to pay compensation for damage caused to agricultural products, to provide means to conduct research and acquire experience, to implement active protection measures. The Law defines the following relevant terms: immovable property; inevitable natural cause; windstorm; agricultural products; insured persons; agricultural insurance; marketing an agricultural product; active protection; citrus; property; scorching; horticultural plants; funds; large enterprises; processing of an agricultural product; flooding; grain; beans; hail. The Law specifies chair and powers of the Agricultural Insurance Organisation, its administration, its competences, including: acquire any kind of goods, contract debts or secure credits, conduct and direct inspections and investigative observations regarding agricultural insurance and collect data, commit compulsory expropriation of property. The Law provides for special provisions in case of dissolution of the Organisation, establishing an Agricultural Production Protection and Insurance Fund.
